Fostering New Behavior

After transforming a former pizzeria into a multi-functional space that now serves as a medical library with touchdown and conference areas, Karp Commons has become the ideal location for a meeting of the minds—whether that be for collaboration or study. Flexible furniture and individual storage support the diverse needs of med students and staff as they come and go throughout the day.

"With real estate at such a premium, it doesn’t make sense to allocate space to serve only one purpose. Together with Allsteel and W.B. Mason, we've created an exciting and adaptable common space that’s more in tune with user needs and can be used by everyone."

Meg Trueb, Boston Children's Hospital

Delivering Meaningful Change

Creating a reconfigurable common space that supports various activities makes this facility ‘future-proofed’ for its users, who range from students to board members. Frameless glass walls carry natural light throughout the facility to support well-being and maintain the high-end aesthetic that conveys the hospital’s brand.
