Nonprofit in Irvine, CA

There are nearly 12.3 million jobs in nonprofit organizations, 10.2 percent of total U.S. private sector employment.

When nonprofit organizations plan out real estate upgrades and investments, they have multi-use spaces in mind; planning for settings that provide value for the employees, their clients and for the community at large.

As an affiliate of America’s largest nonprofit organization providing services for people with disabilities, Easterseals Southern California, located in Irvine, sought to develop a unified look within their multi-functional office space that would better portray their brand and mission, and unify their services further by bringing administrative functions and autism therapy under one roof.

Serving 13,000 people, with 1,000+ coming through the doors of their 38,000 sq. ft. office each year, the organization needed an open, clean, and cohesive design that allowed for a more emotive space and private collaboration workplaces, and which highlighted their branding throughout.

"The new space fully embraces the Easterseals brand and reinforces to all who experience it the outstanding service they provide."

Incorporating an array of furniture in the form of height-adjustable workstations and collaborative lounges and huddle rooms became the first step in transforming the office. Strategically placed tiered modular seating promotes a more laid-back setting in meeting rooms while simplistic tables offer work surfaces in more traditional spaces. In the employee cubicles, height-adjustable desks are available to encourage users to move throughout the day.

Additionally, because the office was going to bring more services into the building, space-saving furnishings were necessary. By providing employees with easy-storage options, books, paperwork, and personal items could be easily and cleverly put away in filing cabinets that tuck under their desks.

While the office was originally a hodgepodge of mixed furniture, Easterseals was able to create a more cohesive appearance by specifying customizable materials for their furniture. Throughout the office, fabrics and finishes in their brand color of orange were used so that the space feels sunny and bright.

“We are proud that our new Autism Therapy and Disability Services Center will enable us to provide more clients with important services every day."

Mark Whitley, CEO of Easterseals

The result: the Easterseals Southern California office now has the space and aesthetic needed to complete tasks for their clients.
