I'd like to talk about sustainability, but not the casual “eco-friendly” term that's applied to everything. A vision of true sustainability ties together social equity, environmental quality, and economic development–what we prefer to call people, planet, and profit. True sustainability requires All of us to work together to achieve this vision.
I've issued a call to action for Allsteel to move toward true sustainability. Our products must be long-lasting, use resources efficiently, contain no toxic materials, be reused and recycled at the end of their useful lives, and be produced with social responsibility to meet that goal. Since no product on the market can claim the title “sustainable” I want Allsteel to take on that challenge. We have a legacy and a member culture of collaboration, of being inclusive, and of rapid continuous improvement that has driven each and every one of us to eliminate waste and optimize productivity together. Please watch our progress toward the goals I've set for us on our path toward greater sustainability. They are stated, along with our guiding policy, here on this website.
On behalf of Allsteel, I would like to propose a call to action for All of us to work toward true sustainability–for All corporations, individuals, non-profits, and government–in our professional and our personal lives. What goals are you going to set to reach sustainability? We can't reach goals if we don't set them, measure and improve. I'm sharing ours, but this isn't just about us.
We're All in this together.
